2018-07-28

The Silk Way 2018 International Rally is completed. The official ceremony of the rally raid finish took place in the Red Square on 27 July. The first stage of the race started in Astrakhan on 20 July. The Silk Way route ran in Astrakhan, Volgograd, Lipetsk, Tula, Moscow Regions and the Republic of Kalmykia. The second stage will take place in China in September.

The competitions were held in two classes – cars and trucks. For vehicle manufacturers, races through challenging and roadless terrain is a chance to show the capabilities of their products. The mission of our company is to build up technology partnerships and localisation of technologies within Russia, import substitution based on the use of high-tech solutions. Therefore, we are sharing and supporting the Silk Way ideology and the event itself.”

The top prize of the rally marathon, the White Tiger figure, was awarded to the crew of Yazid Al Radzhi and Timo Gottschalk, an Arabian pilot and a German navigator who competed on an X-raid team Mini car. The KAMAZ Master team crews were the three winners and prize winners among trucks. Andrey Karginov took first place, Airat Mardeyev was the second, and Anton Shibalov came in third.
