INSTALLATION OF FURNACES AS PART OF IMGU PROJECT LAUNCHED AT NOVOSHAKHTINSK OIL REFINERY

2022-02-15

Installation of reforming section furnaces has been launched as part of the project providing for construction of the Integrated Motor Gasoline Unit (IMGU) at Novoshakhtinsk Oil Refinery.

The furnaces are manufactured by Russian company Aliter-Axi.

Furnace type: multi-chamber box design with a shared convection chamber and a U-shaped coil in each radiation chamber, and free horizontal fuel flaring.

Total heat power: 32.81 MW.

The furnaces are characterised by a high efficiency factor (92.3%) thanks to a shared convection chamber intended to recover flue gas heat by generating high pressure steam. The weight of the furnace exceeds 1,000 t.

In addition, installation of hydrotreatment section furnaces is under way.

The hydrotreatment section includes cylinder feedstock heating furnaces, strip column furnaces, and naphtha separation column furnaces. Hydrotreatment section furnaces are manufactured by Russian company Neftemashstroy.

The furnaces stand out for a shared heat recovery system and stack for three hydrotreatment section furnaces.

IMGU is designed to refine distilled low-octane gasoline and produce hydrogen to support operation of hydrotreatment and isomerisation sections, as well as of the kerosene and diesel hydrotreatment unit. The Integrated Unit includes hydrotreatment, isomerisation, and continuous catalytic reforming sections.

Upon execution of this project, Novoshakhtinsk Oil Refinery will start producing Euro-5 commercial high-octane motor gasoline in the amount of up to 596 KTPA.
