2021-05-26

The 4th International Student Competition named after Professor K.F. Bogatykh in the discipline Chemical Technology Processes and Apparatuses was hosted by the Ufa State Petroleum Technological University (USPTU) in Ufa.

The first K.F. Bogatykh Competition took place in 2017 when the students from 5 Russian universities visited Ufa. In 2018 the geographical spread of the participants extended considerably: students from CIS countries took part in the Competition for the first time.

This year, because of the difficult epidemiological situation, the Competition was held in a new format for participants and organisers: in-person and remote. Some of the students could not come but joined the event via video link. The Competition is held in the form of individual and team event. Senior full-time students of the universities, carrying out training programmes including the discipline Chemical Technology Processes and Apparatuses, were invited to participate in the Competition. A total of 69 students from 18 universities, including guests from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, as well as foreign students from Cuba, Congo, Senegal and Egypt, took part in the Competition.

“Our Competition is held to assess the quality of training of graduates, to reveal the professional, personal and creative potential of students from various universities, as well as to consolidate and deepen the knowledge and skills acquired in the course of theoretical and practical training. It is the young generation who will be able to solve all those extremely complex scientific and technical problems in a creative manner, to cope with all the challenges of modern era that are currently posed to us. Today they deal with complex tasks, tomorrow they will shape the future of the oil and gas industry. Our country really needs new Lomonosovs, young philosophers of nature, outstanding inventors,” Oleg Baulin, Rector of USPTU, said.

One of the leading employers in Bashkortostan, PETON places special emphasis on enhancing the capacity of promising young professionals and supporting talented students of field-specific universities.

As part of the social and educational program to support universities, Peton provides the key university of Ufa with its own personnel with unique theoretical and practical knowledge to develop professional and scientific capacity of the students who will represent the country’s engineering elite in the future, and also organises case tournaments, provides scholarships to students-winners of competitions, provides organisational and financial assistance, organises the participation of the company’s specialists in the educational process of the university, organises probation and internship for students, participates in updating of the work programs of the company’s core academic disciplines being taught at the university.

As any other R&D-intensive economic realm, oil and gas industry relies basically on knowledge. PETON is a company built on the knowledge and achievements of people. Few things can compare in speed, scale of influence on our daily life and on the world history development vector with human thought, the leaders of which are young scientists. Science means work, the setting and solution of new interesting problems, non-standard solutions, the ability to think analytically and generalise the research results. We are glad and proud to start the 4th International Student Competition together with USPTU team,” Eduard Gasanov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Peton, commented.
